EXTENSIVE READING ACTIVITY (PART 1)

Good morning for everyone, today I show you an interesting  reading activity.My partners and I had to created for the Children Literature Subject. I think that it's very funny to realise in our class.

PROCEDURE TO READ THE STORY
The story that we have chosen is a short theatre play so it is divided in different scenes. It allows us to work a scene in each programed session. First of all, we will work the silent reading so the children have a first contact  with  the reading and they can underline the unknown words (see the glossary attached). Afterwards, the teacher will read the same scene aloud in order to make  them listen to the correct pronunciation and intonation. Finally, we will propose  them to act it by organising them in groups depending on the number of characters in each scene.This  way the teacher will be able to detect the most common mistakes in pronunciation.

AFTER READING ACTIVITY

The post reading activity we have designed is to create a book trailer using iMovie.In a first session we will ask our students to make a short summary of the whole story.After that, they will have to select the phrases which they think that show the main  ideas. It is important to make them aware that these  will be the phrases they will include in their videos so they have to be representative to gain the viewers’ attention.In a second session we will explain  them how to use the iMovie program in the IT room.To create it, they will be able to use pictures of themselves acting the

different scenes or even videos,music and audio.

Once the trailer is created the students will link it to a QR code. The first step will be to share their videos in youtube, vimeo or any other similar platform, which is necessary to link it to a QR code. The second step will be to create the code through a free online QR code generator and link it to the website where the video has been uploaded. The idea is to expose the codes all around the center so that parents and teachers can read them with their mobiles and have a look at their videos.Attached you will find the links to a video we have made as an example of  a book trailer that students could make themseves:
